1. Academic Requirements

Singaporean universities require submission of grades from 10th and 11th grade. They accept qualifications from Cambridge, IB, ISC, CBSE, and Indian State boards, typically expecting an aggregate score of around 90 percent. If you are awaiting your 12th-grade results, you can submit predicted grades, attested by your high school.

2. SAT/ACT Scores

The necessity of standardized tests like the SAT or ACT varies among Singaporean universities. While some institutions may require these exams, others consider them optional. If you have taken these tests, it is advisable to submit your scores, as strong results can enhance your acceptance prospects. Always verify the specific requirements of each university and program, as there may be exceptions.

3. Language Proficiency

Tests such as TOEFL or IELTS are required, these tests evaluate a candidate’s ability to understand, speak, read, and write in English, ensuring they can effectively communicate in academic or professional settings.

4. Extracurricular Activities and Achievements

Academic performance is crucial in the application process, but universities such as NUS and NTU also value outstanding achievements in extracurricular activities and competitions. This includes accolades like international science/math Olympiad medals and membership in national sports teams.

5. Statement of Purpose (SOP) and Letters of Recommendation (LORs)

Personal statements or essays are commonly required for undergraduate admissions in Singapore. These essays provide an opportunity to demonstrate your writing skills, personal experiences, motivations, and aspirations. Essay prompts can differ between universities and programs. Additionally, some universities may ask for letters of recommendation (LORs). Usually, one or two letters from teachers or mentors who can vouch for your academic abilities, character, or extracurricular involvement are sufficient.
