10 Best Summer School Programs for High School Students in India

Summer break is a good time to have fun, socialize with friends and family, and most importantly, unwind. But it is also a great time to do something interesting and challenging—something that pushes you out of your comfort zone and helps you learn new things. UC CAAS student, Mahima gives us a glimpse into her trek to Nag Tibba and reaffirms this thought.

A fiercely competitive world of university applications awaits high school students. One way of creating a notice-worthy profile and getting a head start is to attend a Summer School or a Pre-College Program.

In an attempt to connect students with the right opportunity, we invited the Big Red Group and the National Student Leadership Conference at St. Xavier’s High School, Gurgaon, last December. The topic of discussion was high school summer programs and scholarships, and how they build a pathway to top universities. It was amazing to observe how many students had questions about which summer school program to enroll in, how it would benefit them, and whether or not it would make their college applications stand out.

  • UC CAAS student, Laieh, who attended the Young Scholars Program at Ashoka University a few years ago says, “Overall, this was one of the best experiences of my life, where I formed many new friendships, gained knowledge, insight, experience, and life skills. I definitely think that engaging in such summer school and summer programs will get you a great sense as to the workings of college life and what to expect from college.”

Admissions officers are always looking for evidence of dedication to your subject, initiative, and reading beyond the school curriculum. Attending a summer school can in turn boost your overall academic performance, build your confidence, and gain practical experience.

Keeping this in mind, here are the top 10 interesting opportunities that you might want to explore this summer:

  1. Ashoka Summer School– Ashoka’s Young Scholars Programmes (YSP) are certified, summer, residential programmes, designed to give motivated students in classes 9,10,11 & 12 an exposure to a liberal arts & sciences education at the college level. 1. Aspire India Scholars Program-The AISP curriculum will provide global perspectives, holistic learning, and ethical engagement to guide students through their crucial transition from high school to higher education.
